Godzilla vs Podcast Zero - Destroy All Monsters (1968) - Royce Shockley
Tuesday August 27th 2019
It’s an all-out monster brawl this week with DESTROY ALL MONSTERS! We got the excellent Royce Shockley, writer, performer, producer and creator of The Color Collective. This movie is the Godzilla movie to end all Godzilla movies, or so Toho Studios thought! This movie came amidst a slump in Godzilla ticket sales and it was intended to be one final hurrah in the series. Thankfully Godzilla fans spoke up and supported the franchise so they’d keep making movies. Almost every monster you can think of up to 1968 made it in this movie. We also learned some interesting tidbits about some of the technical issues that plagued the filming. This feels very much like Godzilla vs Monster Zero in a good way. Recommended!
Plus some more amazing artwork from Thomas Perkins from our Godzilla vs The Sea Monster episode with Katie Molinero!
Now that we have done away with that pretender to the throne, Katie Molinero… LONG LIVE MOLINAROGON!!! pic.twitter.com/hYWqr54Pho

Jay Hasrajani gave us his take this week and loved the shot composition and the gang-up on Ghidorah. Jay also draws contrast between this movie and the newest Godzilla movie: King of Monsters. It’s an apt comparison because we learned that the new movie was inspired by this!
