The Best Debate in the Universe - After being on the air for two decades, some people are noticing some glaring stereotypes in the long-running animated sitcom, The Simpsons. Specifically with the character Apu, who some contend is an Indian stereotype. So the debate this week is: WHAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH APU?
Monday April 23rd 2018
Debate starts at: 7:35. What's the problem with Apu? Lisa Ullmann, executive producer of "The Ricky Gervais Show," and development exec joins us for the debate this week. TruTV released a documentary by comedian Hari Kondabolu that was critical of The Simpsons character, Apu. As an Indian-American, he says, growing up in America was an experience that was fraught with bullying due to people stereotyping Apu from the show. But some people, say me, might argue that The Simpsons was full of stereotypes. What's the problem with Apu? That's the debate this week, which was very poignant at times. I also talk about my story eating "bird seed" growing up. Plus our own Taylor Nikolai is up for a promotion. Does he deserve one? You decide. Ron Babcock talks about his own experience growing up as a Slovak, which sounds super normal #MadcastSoWhite. Junior Journalist Taylor Nikolai is up for a promotion. Has he kissed enough ass? Or TOO MUCH? Mikey Bolts is on the mix with some keen insight as usual. Plus he somehow can predict which voicemails we'll receive next week...

We round out the episode with some news from Taylor, including a story about a "nipply" robo-squid. Can areola save squids, or are they still idiots? That's a sentence that requires understanding the sum-total of human knowledge to understand. Or just listening to the tail end of this episode. Great episode. You're welcome.
